The Vegan Abolitionist: Veganism should always be a personal choice
Not eating meat is okay. It’s called freedom of choice.
Making non-vegans feel bad because they eat meat means that you deny your fellow humans a right that all the animals have. The right to choose their own diet. Therefore, you value animals more than your own species.
Oh,…
Spare me, please, will you? While it’s true that humans are not carnivores, they aren’t herbivores either. They are omnivores. They need plants and meat for a balanced diet. In fact, it’s a well known aspect that vegans must take calcium and vitamin B12 supplies, as those two cannot be found reliably in plant foods. :) A diet based solely on plants without any additional supplies is dangerous. Same goes for diets based solely on meat.
And if animals are not capable to have a moral code, why should we treat them as our equals? It’s ridiculous.
I stand my case. Veganism must be a personal choice.
More propaganda bullshit.
Vegans don’t NEED calcium or B12 supplements. We get our B12 and calcium the same way you do - fortified foods. You think the dead animal parts you stuff in your face with greedy abandon came from an animal that grazed on natural grasses and plants and got their B12 from the bacteria that grow there? Think again. They get their B12 from supplemented feed.
Cereals and plant milks both contain B12 and calcium. Calcium is also contained in MANY plant foods and is much easier for the body to absorb than that which comes from animal products.
You’re absolutely right about the moral code thing, though. Not having the capability to understand the moral code of another species is certainly a good reason not to treat that individual or group as equal. That’s why we don’t give the same rights to people without the mental capacity to understand morals.

This sweet boy is terrified in the shelter. He sits in the back of his kennel and doesn’t move. He is set to die Tuesday morning because he is too fearful and shy. Please help save this precious scared boy. He dies Tuesday morning.
Animal ID 16249241
Breed Shepherd/Mix
Sex Male
Intake: 5/21/2012
Too fearful/shy (didn’t move when I saw him -Tiffany; terrified in the back of the cage - Kristen)
The following animal has been identified as VERY URGENT. It must be tagged by 7am and picked up by close of business that same day. If you do not, your tag may become invalid. If you are willing to rescue, adopt or foster this animal, you need to tag it by sending an email to fwaccfb@gmail.com.
Messages posted on an animal’s thread may be overlooked and do not constitute a valid tag, but a rescue tag or adoption tag must be in place for the reprieve to be granted. Requests for additional time to save an animal should also be made to fwaccfb@gmail.com, but a rescue tag or adoption tag must be in place for the reprieve to be granted.
****PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SHELTER.****
The only way to tag an animal is by emailing fwaccfb@gmail.com. Detailed tagging information is at https://www.facebook.com/fwaccurgents/infoWhy is that shelter going to kill him? What a shitty “shelter.”

We should. I’ve been so anti-social lately, it’s really getting ridiculous.

No. The truth is the truth. Don’t like it? Stop exploiting animals.

I don’t know how you can keep reading groups like this one, especially with the shit that was said to you in reply to this post. Kudos for trying, at the very least, to counter ignorance with education.

Nice to see tumblr hasn’t changed in my absence.
Removing some blogs that just post tons of naked chicks, disturbing fetishistic crap, gif after gif after gif, and rarely anything of actual importance. I like a lot of the people behind some of these blogs, but the useless shit is a waste of my time. -
Foie Gras… just forced fed ducks and geese, process so violent that many die with their organs ruptured or choked on their own vomit… forced feeding aims to bloat their livers up to 10 times the normal size, this will leave them unable to stand, developing infections, sometimes liver necrosis, spleen damage, bruised and broken bills and lumps in their throats… the animals are kept in poor conditions, small and dirty cages… and then, as you can see in the picture, the liver is harvested - according to the source - while they are still alive.
Look at it. This is the truth.

Acid Burned Dog Delivers 8 Puppies: all to die
Humble, Texas: Some monster burned this beautiful dog with acid. Mamasita wound up at the Humble Animal Control and delivered eight beautiful puppies. She is a great mom, trying to keep her babies safe. Sadly, the Humble Animal Control does not adopt out pit bulls. Humble is located a few miles north of Houston, Texas.
This tiny shelter does not have resources and backing, but tries very hard for the animals in their care. A dedicated officer built Mamasita a whelping box for her puppies.
The only chance Mamasita and her puppies have is to be pulled by a rescue group. Please share Mamasita’s story in hopes that she and her family can be rescued.

Srsly.
not relevant or anything…,.
“claims to fight for important things like human rights; proceeds to use ableist terms to describe vegans then calls you racist for pointing it out.”
“‘veganism is racist!’ while ignoring racism of industrial meat industry”
“‘veganism is racist!’ while ignoring racism of industrial meat industry”
I needed this statement on my blog.
I’m sure there are vegans out there who engage in harmful racist actions (without realizing it or otherwise) but that /= “veganism is inherently racist”.
the more white vegans talk about racism, the more i understand why many POC are consistently offended by vegans. incredible.
There are definitely no non-white vegans. Ever. None. Those non-white non-existing vegans also definitely need other people speaking for them. Really.

sorry, but i don’t like men. i distrust men. i don’t care if you, a man, have never met me, or done nothing to me - you’re still part of the system that oppresses me and even if you never assault a woman, or murder a woman, or rape a woman, you’re still participating in a culture where misogyny is the norm and women are expected to be available 24/7 365 for any man. and i hate you for that.
Because hating someone solely based on their gender is totally okay if they have a penis! Right guys? Right? Yeah. OF COURSE.

: houseofangryhippies asked: Wearing a purple sweater is a personal choice. Killing involves more than one party so...
Well excuse me for not forcing my views on others, how horrible of me to not be pretentious and hold myself to a higher degree then those who choose to eat meat and contribute to the industry. At this point I withdraw from an argument centered around not veganism, but on being told I’m in the wrong for not attacking people on what they choose to do with their lives to feed my ego and those of any herbivore.
Partaking in an already fucked up situation is. Again, I never said I agreed with it. Why that in particular is going over your head, I don’t know. It’s a personal choice to eat or to not eat a dead animal, or any products from an animal in captivity. I choose not to, and give no one shit for their choices reguarding the matter. Again, although I don’t agree with eating meat, to each his own.
What part of personal are you not understanding? It’s not a personal choice when that choice affects others, and it’s not an acceptable personal choice when it affects others negatively. This is not a difficult concept.
Because whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant since you don’t care to actually do anything about it one way or another. The relevant part is that it is not a personal choice which means that is not an excuse.
This is you still missing the point. Who said anything about attacking anyone? Who said you have to hold yourself to a higher degree? For that matter, who said holding yourself to a higher degree is a bad thing when you do not do bad things that other people do? Do you consider yourself better than a serial killer?
It’s not a personal choice. That’s it. That’s the point. That’s all of it. There’s no need to ignore the point and substitute hyperbole and bullshit, because the point is merely that eating others is not a personal choice. It cannot be. You don’t have to excuse other people doing it, it’s okay to realize that sometimes people do atrocious shit and and it’s okay to not be accepting of that even though it may be the status quo. Vegans do not need to and should never, ever be told they have to feel bad or guilty for being compassionate.Posted on March 18, 2012 via There are seven levels. with 15 notes
